Intro
Back at it. After a summer break of filming, documenting, and capturing every piece of the summer. You can probably tell what I have in mind to do for this year’s project; if not, I will tell you that I took on the challenge of doing a documentary. Yeah, my tutor was also shocked, as a documentary is not the easiest thing to create. I have always had a passion for them. You can get a better understanding of the person as they are talking to you through the interviews, but also experience problems that other people may have and relate to them.
I have always liked the idea of someone helping you document your life; in a way, that is why I also started doing vlogs. To document my life in a simpler way.
Expectations for this School Year
The expectations for this year are to be able to create part of the documentary and, in those 5 minutes, be able to tell a story that relates to as many people as possible, as well as have an impact. Inspirational documentaries that I have in mind are: "The Social Dilemma," which is very impactful to the generation/trends we live in, as well as "Molly-Mae: Behind It All," a documentary that shows the life of a big influencer in the UK, dealing with a major social media platform and brand while being a mother, and also going through a breakup that she never thought would come to an end. Creating something like this would be a dream come true, and for this year, that is the target, as well as developing my blog creation and vocabulary. As for the creation part, I don’t really have any specific expectations that I necessarily want to achieve this year, but who knows, they might come to mind after starting to create the documentary.
Reflection on Last Year
Last year, I had a great experience creating the film opening and blogs, but it was also very challenging for me as I didn’t really know what I was getting into. When my tutor first presented to me what I would have to do, and one month before the exam, I was still missing some information that I needed for my exams, I started panicking. Media studies is a fun, creative subject where you learn a lot of things, but it is also a very detailed subject. Even this year, after I had my first lesson with my tutor and she presented to me what I have to do this year, I went downstairs and started crying and telling my mom I don’t want to do media studies anymore. The lesson I learned last year, and I think I will learn this year as well, is that I am capable of doing all that I have to do, even if it seems impossible or too much.
Projects that happened during/after last year's work for Media Study
After my first year of studying media studies, I started filming more and putting videos together, as well as developing my photography skills with my phone mostly, and sometimes also using other people's cameras at birthday parties, etc.
I started doing my vlogs with a GoPro, which was a bit tricky until I got used to transferring the footage to my laptop. I created a podcast-style vlog with my brother, answering questions that people had about his awesome university.
Started helping my mom with her Instagram account regarding flower decor, so she can grow it and maybe also get clients from there. https://www.instagram.com/floral_designer_cluj?igsh=dDhjNnJwaWV0azRz - the last 7 posts are created by me + highlights.
In April, my family and I went with our friend Cristina Pirv to a volleyball match, and she asked me if I could help her film; it was my time to shine! I filmed a lot of content for her, and after a few days, I saw that she still hadn’t posted anything, so I texted her and asked if she needed help putting a reel together. She said YES, so I created the reel, and after a bit, she posted it.
It got 10K views - for this one, I made only the video because I didn't know what she wanted to write or if she wanted any writing. But this is how she posted it.

I will post the one that has the most views out of the ones I made with 26.7K views.
The rest of the reels also made good views starting at 14.3K views, 19.9K views, and one with 26.2K views.
I started working with her during the summer and created 4 more reels, and also gave her some advice on when to post the reels, etc. Her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cristinapirv_?igsh=bnB4NmF5NGVra2lsThen
I then also started making reels for myself and posting them on my stories.
This one is from Portugal, but I only created the montages.
One of my most recent works.
And another one from Portugal.
This is how my first year in media studies helped me discover and improve my skills.
